Playing v computer

Hi all.  I've been prowling around for a while, but first post.  I've appreciated reading your analyses, successes, blunders, and tips.

I have no formal chess training, though I've played a bit and have started reading some books.  I've also started playing against the computer more on this site when I can't find a person.  Typically I play on the medium level.  Sometimes the computer completely crushes me.  Other times, their moves seem completely senseless.  It doesn't feel like playing against a real opponent, and I wonder if it may even be counterproductive.  What do you think?

Here's an example from a game I just finished. I'm playing as white:

I'm not sure if this graphic will work, though I followed the instructions.  If not, here's the PGN:

Playing computers is great if you want to study an opening. The slightest mistake you make in the opening will be capitalized on by an engine. Even though blitz games aren't generally recommended I think they're a great way of getting your opening theory down. And yes, computers play very counter-intuitive at times.
