Me and a few uni friends have been playing a game where you take someone you beat, and then take someone they beat, and so on until you find someone that has beaten Kasparov. The lower the number of people, the better.

Have you not played any nationally rated games (aside from that tournament)? If you include them, then then you might be able to get there a bit quicker).

Also, a round each weekend? Interesting idea, not seen that before (was it a club or regional tournament?).

I beat someone who beat Shirov but unfortunately Kasparov destroyed Shirov 16 to 0 with 15 draws, so I have to find other route! I would have done it in 3 just if...

@Thomas, I find it hard to even find games from other players, so I don't know. But surely not under 6.

Edit: I also played NM Bill Melvin, who beat a very strong player, who beat multiple opponents of Kasparov, but none of them won against Kasparov.

 I do not have a FIDE  rating and the lowest USCF title that chess.com accepts is National master. I'm only expert.

I lost to GM Romero Holmes, who beat GM Illescas, who drew Kasparov.
