why lately do all my losses equate to a loss of 12 points but my wins are usually only plus 4. I used to be a mid 1600 rated but am now lucky to stay in the 1400's. this site doesn't really make sense. I feel like you need to pay the money to have a fair rating.

The way it works is you win (or lose) about 10 points for beating (or losing against) someone who is rated the same as you.

You win more than 10 points if you beat someone rated higher than you.

You lose more than 10 points if you lose to someone rated lower than you.

The system is not chess.com's, is a system used by other sites, and even other games than chess. It's called the Glicko rating system (similar to Elo rating system).

The point system in chess.com is worthless. I agreed. Some crazy people have been spending thousands of hours just to get mere increase in 100- 200 points

My suggestion, would you be interested in playing tetris?

The point system over there is very promising.

Whenever, you can make a correct move, you get 100 points 500 points etc.🤔

And some good people can make even 1,000,000 + points.
