Predator at the Chessboard

Hi guys. I am currently working through aforementioned books. Incidentally my first tactics books. I have both copies. Now, my question is not so much which book I should get afterwards. We alread have some amazing threads about tactics books. You know who you are😀. My question is : Where do I stand after I have really mastered these 2 books? Let's assume one really assimilates the material in the books. How good is one in tactics? Is that just beginner basics ? If you were to put that in elo tactics terms...what might it be? The funny thing is, the better I get, the more I feel like a patzer. Now, I know, I am a patzer!! But, a patzer who would like to know where he stands in terms of tactics. I'm delving deeper into the theory, so, I am sure that there are some of you who have finished those books and moved on years ago. I'd like to hear your analysis...

That's probably a sign that you are indeed getting better. Widening your awareness to the point where you understand just how difficult chess can be and just how good some of these top-level players are, is a necessary (and painful) step on the road to improvement.

Yes, you could say that again. I am used to that dynamic because I study quite a bit, but the chess universe is not very generous when imparting its knowledge...at least long-term.
