Obviously, you should eat lots of waffles for sustained energy during long tournaments.
.

This strikes home with me. When I travel to play OTB tournaments I always take a can of sardines with me. Why you ask? Well, I don't care for the popular position that when in dire need of calories one should depend on candy bars or other sugary foods.
That may do when you have only a few minutes to play your next round. But let's say you have only an hour til the next round. There's not enough time to to run to the local restaurant. That sugar is going to run out quick. About middle game you find yourself running low. Sardines pack protiein. That protein will keep you going longer than any candy-bar you can name.
So, when you go to an OTB tourney, remember to take your sardines with you!

I looks like your sardines are the ones with oil. I like them with tomato paste.
It is best to eat them cut up over white rice and make sure that you get plenty of garlic. When you are playing, make sure that you breathe toward your opponent. They will hate it, that your breath stinks bad. It will make them blunder, because of your breath.
They might file a complaint against you and ask you to take some breath mints or something like that. Refuse to do so because there nothing about breathing in the rules. and keep breathing.
You will win more games. They might resign just to get away from you.

WHAT TO EAT IF YOU PLAY CHESS : THE CHESS PIECES.
SERIOSLY, THEY'RE DELICIOUS, PUT SOME BREAD ON THEM TOO.
OR
SALAMI AND VEGGIES IN A CHESS BOARD.
on a more serious note to OTB tourney players. DO NOT eat any chocolate ( or related ) products as well as bananas.
these will release endorfines in your brain and give you a cozy feeling and severely diminish your concentration capabilities.
A couplfe of years ago there was an item about this research on National Geographic.
