Publish chess books

Hi! What Mac, iPad, program(s) does chess authors use to create their own chess positions to implement in their published chess books?

I am publishing lectures, etc., but I cheat a bit - I do screen captures from chess.com and then clean and crop in photoshop.

But most graphics programs - even free ones - will let you crop a screen capture... use the game editor here and then just do a snapshot!

I would use LaTeX: https://goo.gl/o0Ynuw.

I used Linares chess fonts. It take a little while to get used to them. But once you set up the board and save it, it is very easy to use.

I use Linares for all my chess article and books I write

I am not sure if Linares chess fonts are still being sold. But you can download many chess fonts from the Internet (for free!).

Fonts are better to use than JPEG images in that fonts take up less memory space and can be enlarged to just about any size (limited by your program, such as Word or In Design).

Hope this helps!
