In the checkmate position, each square around the king is only covered once. Put a black pawn on g4 and it's no longer a "pure mate" as f3 would be covered twice.

I had one OTB against my father a few months ago. I was pretty proud of myself but, as he pointed out, a checkmate is a checkmate. That said, I'm the chess enthusiast, not him, so my opinion counts more :).
I just wanted to show this because I thought its a very unsual and pretty final position;
does anyone else have an example of a pure mate that happened in one of their games?
