Purpose of move by Capablanca

I need the logical interpretation of Capablanca 12th Knight to d2 move in the game

My question is why Capablanca preferred a development move? when he can take pawn at e5. knight move could have been delayed for allowing black to bring rook to d8 first directly or through queenside castling or in case of black bishop would have taken pawn at c5, he could have played e3 or destroyed the pawn structure of black with bishop taking the knight.  Is it related something to pawn at b4? What am I missing?

just at first glance it seems like Ng4 ideas and general d file pin issues could be quite annoying. For example Bxe5 Ng4 Bd4 0-0-0 (Rd8 may be more accurate to avoid Bh3 pins, but the general idea is to place the rook on the d file) looks pretty annoying for white.

Thanks, Krikorian, so I was missing the problem of f2 square and was thinking only on open d file. Thanks again

Its an interesting game. Capablanca's opening was completely different from what I usually play in this line.

Didn't Shakespeare write a play about that?
