puzzles are unfair

When I solve a puzzle correctly, I get 5-8 points. When I make a mistake in a puzzle, I lose 15-20 points.

Yesterday I solved 3 and failed 12, and my rating still went up.

@thereturnofthesnowfox what?!
thereturnofthesnowfox

Yesterday my starting puzzle rating was 1401, I solved 3 and failed 12, my final rating was 1424.

hi

Fetoxo
That isn't possible
thereturnofthesnowfox

I don't know what to say, it's what I can see on my puzzle stats.

MrChatty

It is possible because you can get points for partially solved puzzles

thereturnofthesnowfox

I did partially solve 5.
So that puts me on 3 solved, 5 partially solved, 7 failed.

MrChatty

Also it is true that at high puzzle rating (like Fetoxo's 2500+) there is significant difference between points you get for solving a puzzle (typically +5) and not solving it (typically -15)

This is not the case for low or average puzzle rating (like thereturnofthesnowfox's 1400+)

Btw, the problem is quite old:
