Under FIDE rules checkmate "immediately ends the game". So no need to press the clock.

Hey everybody, I would like to ask when you checkmate your opponent, do you have to press the clock or not? I've seen games where the player who gives checkmate, plays the checkmating move, presses the clock, handshakes, and then stops the clock. I've also seen games where the player doesn't press the clock.. just plays the move and handshakes.. Here are some examples:
