Question on Insufficient Material Draw

It's happened to me and I've seen it happen in other games. It's king one bishop and one pawn vs just a king, and game is automatically drawn from insufficient material. Why? 

I appreciate any replies!

Probably what happened was the side with the B and pawn ran out of time--a lone K cannot win.

I agree that the side with the bishop, pawn and king ran out of time.  That would be the only automatic draw.

Ok I get it now. I guess I thought whoever runs out of time loses regardless, but it makes sense that the person with just a king shouldn't earn a win from that. Thanks for the replies!
