Question relating to Searching for Bobby Fischer

As you can probably tell from my avatar, "Searching for Bobby Fischer" is my all-time favorite movie. A ton of chess masters/grand-masters had cameo scenes in the movie. There's one scene I'd like to present to all of you tonight, who have seen the movie, since I LOVE blitz chess. Josh Waitzkin (played by Max Pomeranc) at one time talks to his mentor about blitz chess, and his mentor Bruce Pandolfini (played by Ben Kingsley) replies (paraphrase): "I know you like blitz chess, but it ruined a lot of great players. It ruined XXXX"

There was some names mentioned but I could never pick it up from the DVD. As the film had so many chess consultants on it, I wonder if that was a real player, and some grand master who was ruined by "blitz" chess. Thanks for any help on this question.

- Ecclesiastes.

I don't think it was Ecclesiastes.

I think it was Matthew.

I had the pleasure of meeting both Josh and Bruce at the Scholastic Chess Nationals many years ago in Phoenix. (I was the team's coach. they all got autographs and a pic together). it was pretty cool.

you beat me to it. Yes, Matthew. Notmtwain must only know one book out of 66 in the bible.

I think you may have confused postings/posters.

They used Fischer's name for nothing in return. Bunch of crooks.

Had they found Fischer in the movie, I guess they'd have had to pay him then...

Both are correct (plus several other books of the Bible)

Fischer also didn't compensate them for the marketing of his brand
