Rapid development is an important stage. This implies Opening stage. If your opponent develop his pieces faster than you, it means you have inferior position to your opponent. To become expert at this stage, we have to learn opening theory in depth..this is the main key in chess learning.What are your thoughts?

Learning opening theory in depth is only useful if you have mastered all other phases and aspects of the game. Otherwise you will have a difficult time to continue the game once you reach a position when your theory knowledge ends and your opponent will catch up.
