Rating based forum tournament
One more thing I'd like to say, if you are the liwest rated in your group you can ask for a head start of like 2 points, just so you might have a chance
My OTB club does this often. They are called Quads. The pool of players is divided up by rating into groups of 4. You play everyone in your group. (Obviously you can have bigger groups but the only quads I played in was G30+10 so bigger groups would take all night!)
If you don't have a multiple of 4 players, you take the bottom 5-7 players and they play a Swiss.
1800-2200 group: 1. Nonotro 2. Tree 3. Fet 4. Neelesh 300-700 group: 1. Me (Gecko) 1100-1500: 1. Tucker 1500-1800: 1. lion-lover 700-1100: 1. Bedrok
I doubt that I would have time to participate sadly, but I have a suggestion for you @GeckoSoloYT. You should edit your first comment and make a list of people that have joined the different rating groups, and also add all the essential information in bullet points to make it faster and easier to read.
I've seen a few forum tournaments, however there is one problem. Ratings tend to be rather inbalanced, resulting in unfairness for lower rated players. I think I've found a way to fix this. There will be 7 groups of 5 people sorted by rating. Each player will play everyone in the group 6 times. Win is 2 points, draw is one, and loss is nothing. Whoever has the most poings from any group wins. No tiebreaks, it will just be a tie. The groups are (U300, 300-700, 700-1100, 1100-1500, 1500-1800, 1800-2200, 2200+) To be clear, I will be participating. Groups are determined by live rating, not daily.
