Rating comparison and improvement

I play exclusively 10min Blitz games at I am rated a little over 1000.  What would you recommend to try to get to 1100-1200ish.  Also is 1000 blitz equivalent to 1100 or a little higher in Rapid games (slower games)... I heard Blitz ratings are lower on average than Rapid.  Thanks!

Concentration, taking your time, and a 'safety first' mentality. I looked at your last 3 losses, in each game you hung pieces for no compensation, largely because you made ambitious manouvers and then either plunged further into danger when your pieces were attacked, or were unable to see how to keep all your pieces protected. Just develop all your minor pieces quickly and efficiently, castle your king, bring your rooks to a central file and take it from there. Most importantly, don't lose pieces. In my experience anyone can reach an intermediate 1400ish rating by just not blundering stuff away (because opponents under this level tend to do this and you can be the grateful recipient of their gifts).

You need to spend 20-30 minutes per day on tactics. After five years, you should be over 1200.

Wanted to open this forum up again for average(ish) players ratings comparison and improvement.  Thanks for the advice Strangemover it has helped.  My rating of 1038 is about average I guess... 49.2% but above above the global blitz average rating of 1015.09  Any other advice on improving from a beginner/average rating to good one?

Maybe 15min or longer Rapid games would be better at my low ranking to work on not blundering...

"..., you have to make a decision: have tons of fun playing blitz (without learning much), or be serious and play with longer time controls so you can actually think.
One isn't better than another. Having fun playing bullet is great stuff, while 3-0 and 5-0 are also ways to get your pulse pounding and blood pressure leaping off the charts. But will you become a good player? Most likely not.
Of course, you can do both (long and fast games), ..." - IM Jeremy Silman (June 9, 2016)

"... for those that want to be as good as they can be, they'll have to work hard.

Play opponents who are better than you … . Learn basic endgames. Create a simple opening repertoire (understanding the moves are far more important than memorizing them). Study tactics. And pick up tons of patterns. That’s the drumbeat of success. ..." - IM Jeremy Silman (December 27, 2018)

I don't know who told you that blitz ratings are usually lower than rapid ratings on this site. Maybe that's true below a certain rating?
