Okay, this actually is not the issue, though I disagree entirely.

Let me ask, would you be okay, with Caruana winning the Women's world championship in 2019?

I might think it's absurd, if he suddenly decides he's a woman for no real reason.

But if he'd been transitioning for some years already, then I don't think I'd mind.

And, by the way, if consensus (among professionals, not meat heads) is that it's a mental disorder, that's fine too. I'm not in love with it either way. My main point is like I said before, I'd rather respect others and treat others with kindness, and live in a society that also supports those values.

Questions like "do you want a man seeing your teenage daughter nude?" and "do you want Caruana to win the woman's championship?" are appeals to emotions like fear and confusion and instead of making an argument attempt to elicit emotions like hate and disgust.

As usual I find such "arguments" ironic when they come from groups that purportedly preach love and offer teachings on how to treat others.

Interesting.  Some people from a secular humanist mindset believe they have the right to dictate to people how they must be addressed.  If a boy/man decides one day that he is a girl/woman, then he gets to dictate to everyone else that he must be addressed as a "She."

And visa versa.  If a girl/woman decides one day that she is a boy/man, then she gets to dictate to everyone else that she must be addressed as a "He."

Why are these transgender people so obsessed with being tyrannical dictators who can't allow people to have the freedom of responsible speech?

Well, the USCF could sidestep the entire issue simply by doing away with all women's events and titles. All genders (how many are there? Three, six, ten?) would fight in the same tournament for the same prizes. I'd call that the ultimate inclusiveness! :) And you could call yourself any gender you want, and it wouldn't matter and nobody would care!

Lol.  It's pathetic, but not surprising, that militant secular fundamentalists have no respect or tolerance for the free speech rights of others. The obliviousness of their own blatant hypocrisy about respecting others is of a magnitude hitherto unseen.  These secular fundamentalists work themselves into a frenzied mob who then maliciously condemn, harass, persecute, and hurt those who refuse to affirm their beliefs.  

One such secularist fundamentalist who ruled as a tyrannical dictator was a National Socialist by the name of Adolf Hitler.

In any case, being allowed to change your gender once on a USCF ID card is nothing like what you describe.

But it's a false equivalence if you want to put people who make decisions based on logic and empathy on the same level as people who make decisions based on the writings of bronze age Judean goat hearers.

If there's a biological basis for that belief (like you have a butterfly brain), and you're not causing harm to yourself or others due to it, then I don't really care one way or the other.

By the same token, if you (or a prospective transgender person) is delusional, or pretending to be for attention, then I hope you get the help you need, like medication, counseling, or whatever else goes along with that.

They already allow this in the Olympics.

Sure, society sometimes goes too far, and has to self correct. Like I said I'm not in love with one ideology or the other. The main thing for me is what the basis is.

If people are guided by logic and empathy then I don't fear whatever the future holds. If we're guided by fear and bigotry then I can't imagine things changing for the better.

One of the points we should start with I suppose is whether or not there's a physiological basis for a person feeling they're a different gender. Such people (homosexuals, cross dressers, etc) have existed since at least recorded history, so it should be no surprise that e.g. autopsies have been done on such people for decades. Also, more recently, brains scans.

From my point of view historically these people have existed, and we have evidence that points to an explanation that, for at least for some people, doesn't involve subjective feelings, and doesn't involve delusion. Their brains are physically different.

I guess from some people's POV it's like the world has gone crazy, but the only thing that's changed is our knowledge. Like I said such people have existed for a long time.

I don't think right or wrong has anything to do with it, some people just are the way they are, and after acknowledging that, society has options.

I didn't watch the whole video, but I see him saying early in the video that gender is not malleable. I agree with that. There have been cases in the past of people (with doctor's assistance) trying to raise a boy like a girl, and it didn't work, such as the sad case of David Reimer. IIRC both he and his brother committed suicide as young adults. Really sad stuff.

You can't fool a person (with social conditioning and hormone therapy) that they're something they're not... which is why if their brain is physically more like the gender they identify with, I'm inclined to believe and respect that. It's not choosing to feel a certain way, someone with a male body may actually have a brain that's physically more like a female brain.

It used to be considered a mental disorder, now it's not.

Why do you think that is? There must be evidence that there is a real reason, and it's not a delusion.

And if that's true, then there's no reason to treat it as a mental disorder.
