It is not necessary to read books linearly. That is, restricting oneself to, and finishing one book before reading another book. In fact, I recommend a process of reading several books on different topics at the same time, depending at any given instant on what you are motivated by and interested in. I believe that this approach would provide a more well-rounded exposure, over time, to the various topics.
The following books are relatively advanced, and based on your rating probably will be (with all due respect) over your held at this point in your chess development.....
Aron Nimzowitsch. My System.
Jeremy Silman. How to Reassess Your Chess.
Better to start by reading books targeted more to your current level - many appropriate books are recommended in my list above...

For endings:
2. de la Villa's 100 Endgames You Must Know.
You cant go wrong with either one.
Aron Nimzowitsch. My System.
I just got My System, but I will attest that De La Villa’s 100 endgames really helped me out. Highly recommend it

At what level, in your opinion, can a person can start reading "My System" and "How to Reassess Your Chess"?
For those books specifically, I would recommend a level of at least (i.e., minimum) 1500-1600 ELO. They are not easy reads for the beginner-novice. Particularly those who are not well versed in positional concepts. As I mentioned earlier, there are many excellent, instructive, appropriate books targeted to those below 1600 recommended in my list (above). Also check out...
