Why do so many players within this community often decline a rematch after a close game or after an opponent resigns?

I have never understood the mindset behind why someone would refuse to play again.

Perhaps there is someone on this forum who could enlighten me as to why especially amongst lower middle rated players, 1100-1500, there is a high amount of declined rematches.
