My apologies if this is answered elsewhere.
If I am playing a face to face tournament match in a US Chess Federation event and I as Black supply the board and pieces, what are the allowed colors of the squares such that my opponent cannot complain the equipment is not proper?
(The color requirement is my primary question - but any other requirement on board, pieces, or clock for a US Chess tournament game?)
It's fairly open but the "colors should offer high contrast between the light and dark sections yet remain pleasing to the eye. Good combinations include green or brown with ivory or buff and walnut or teak with maple or birch. The colors and the finish should allow extended examination without eyestrain."
There are size requirements as well, but most tournament and club sets are likely good enough. For clocks, a digital clock is preferred.
For pieces, they "should be the colors of naturally light and dark wood ... or approximations of theses colors ..."
