Reshevsky and Najdorf way back in 1950

Amsterdam, November 1950.

This was a particularly strong tournament.  It was a particularly tense tournament, tightly contested up to the very end.  It was won by Najdorf with Reshevsky coming in 2nd. Ironically, these to men drew their first round game against each other and this draw put them both behind Gligoric, Stahlberg and Rossolimo for half the tournament.

Thank you! Wow, back then, all super-GMs were basically geezers! tongue.png nowadays, the average age in super-GM tournaments is I assume below 30... time have changed indeed.

Believe it or not, Sammy Reshevsky celebrated his 39th birthday during this tournament and Miguel Najdorf was 40.
