The rule I follow is:
- If I could win the position from the opposite side without really having to switch my brain on, and am sure my opponent can too, I resign.
If that's not the case, the game is not yet decided. Play on, and concentrate on playing as well as possible, as you would if the game is even!
Hi all,
To resign or not to resign in a lost position, that is the question...
Today I just gave up concentration and missed a fork in a losing position, a fork that could have given me an advantage. Actually I did not resign but played without thinking, and the question arises: since most of us are not Kasparov, is it acceptable to resign in a theoritically lost game? or it is advisable to wait until our opponent makes that fatal mistake?
Have a nice day,
Daniel
