Resignation avoidance

Etiquette and rules are different things.
If the word etiquette is new to the reader, I am not surprised, as it went out with the passing of the millenium.

THESE KIDS TODAY HAVE NO RESPECT!
(and, yes, it's true that the same exact lament has been voiced for hundreds of years, spoken by the elders of each and every passing generation, but now it's for real!)

You seem to think that your opponent should make moves when you think they should make them rather than when they think they should make them. Perhaps you also think your opponent makes the wrong moves and is spoiling the game by not playing the 'proper' lines (believe it or not there was such a post earlier this week).
The fact is that your opponent can move what they like and when they like as long as they are within the rules of the game. If you do not like this you probably should find another game to play.

This is the first time we have heard about this...duh....
Indeed. I wish we had more threads about this.
Your assumption is incorrect.
One example today
Opponent has king on A8, pawns on A7 and B7, and rook on E8
I have queen on C8 for check and rook on C1
No other pieces had access to C8
Around 5 mins on the clock
The opponent had ONLY one move after which I checkmate. Instead we waste many minutes before abandonment.
Sorry but that seems pointless for all concerned.
Does anyone else face this situation?
