Resignation Etiquette

Is there a proper way of announcing a resignation ? Do I write in the messages that I wish to resign and then make my move, so that my opponent opens the game when it's flagged that it's their turn - and after they make their move, I resign ?

Not that others are rude, but I don't like to just "disappear" from the game.

What do you think ?

you can always type "good game" in the message box, and then resign.

Typing "good game" and then hitting the resign button should be fine. I don't think you need to make a big production out of resigning. Smile

Yeah....I'm making it quite convoluted, aren't I ? I think I can't even remember it !Laughing

The Prime Minister of Australia once called the Prime Minister of Malaysia, recalcitrant. We can see why.Laughing

I doubt that man is Malaysian to be honest. How do you feel about that?

Klee
True but Malaysians are very infectious....well, they must have....Laughing

I feel sorry that he is not Malaysian and a bit relieved. Ok no wait I glad he's not malaysian but only lives there. Wait now I feel confused...

I think you should write something along the lines of "That's it! I can't go on any longer. goodbye cruel world" then resign and remain inactive on the site for at least a week. Ha Ha!!

make your move and resign same as draw offer

I resigned yesterday.....messaged the person, conceded they had the game won, congratulated them, then resigned. Seemed like the polite thing to do.

Whatever the result of the game, I write "good game" only if it *was* a good game, otherwise I just say "thanks for playing"  with the proviso:

when the game ends on a non-timeout and opp has been decently behaved. (otherwise I maintain the stiff upper lip.)

I tip my King to you dear sir.

Gracious and elegant.

Be careful when you tender your resignation.  You might end up in a little place called "The Village".

Why did you resign, Number Six?
