road to 2000

To reach 1500 there are many stages to go through:
1. Have a well-mastered opening repertoire, not just 3-4 moves.
2. to have well-mastered patterns of movement (puzzle);
3. to have a middle game plan and to have the end in mind
4. master the endings (not the basic ones).
5. to analyze each game played to see what you did wrong and what your weaknesses are.
6. to have a tailored mind for chess (ie to play from the age of 5-6)
7. to have exercise to play fast (I don't - I lose 48% of the games on time);
Otherwise, you will reach 1500 or even more but in time you will reach your current level.
Only one solution will keep you away from the goal: to play chess 2-3 hours a day without a bit of study!
About 2000 - it is an unattainable goal - it is only for professionals, who are totally dedicated to chess.

"watching some YouTube videos" ++ 1 book = 200 videos.
"what would be the realistic goal for me to achieve by the end of the year" ++ 2000

not true the one who want to reach 2000 can reach it it might take some time everyone is capable of reaching it is not impossible

If you are young and talented, reaching 2000 is a reasonable goal. But don't take it for granted. In the beginning improvement comes quickly but once you passed a certain level of playing strength, improvement will be slow and require a tremendous amount of work. You don't know where your threshold is, until you reach it and notice for yourself.
