Alright Doke. I haven't analyzed games recently, so let's download your last game and see what happens.  I know you're gonna do me proud!

A draw!  Opening could've been a little cleaner.

Give 'em hell Doker!

Okay pal I'm going to make a couple of suggestions for your improvement, first after you play one game, go back to look at the game and try to figure out where it all went wrong instead of spamming 15 games at once repeating the same errors. Second, try to watch youtube and learn common beginner mistakes as it's easier to have a teacher guiding you through your journey, I recommend Naroditsky speedruns. Finally, I observed from your games you seem to just play preordained moves regardless of what your opponents play which is wrong think of it as going to a swordsfight blindfolded. Your moves should be guided by what your opponents do common train of thought should be "Can my opponent take my undefended piece?, can my opponent checkmate my king on the next move? If so how can I stop that(learn the simplest checkmate patterns on youtube, did my opponent just blunder their piece? Can I capture and be ahead? I wish you the best and please keep us updated don't give up.

these are all correct sounding advice -- but i think its all a little beyond me right now -- i standard moves are just to get to move ten -- when i free think on an opening -- i usaully lose within 10-15 moves -- when i use this standard ( for me ) defense - i then after move ten get to a point i can free think- its just at this point iam not very good at seeing moves three ahead -- which is needed at this point -- i usually if i take my time -- i see two moves ahead -- but not three -- i will try to improve this in my last sessions -------not for some good new ---

i finally after all this time got to over 200 ---  i really can't believe it -- so i am not a  complete hard  stubborn blockhead -- just a softer stubborn blockhead ---

thanks for the advice -- see my next couple of games -- maybe iam on a roll -i don't know -- maybe its just luck

My man!!!  Keep on climbing!  I believe in the Dokester.

well i believe that little increase to 200 was just luck playing the right players -- now that i am playing 220 219 209  type players-- i lost four games in a row things today looked not so good

after supper i will try again -- hopefully not goin back to 100 again--

if i do then thats it

I'd guess the only thing 200ish players do different is they don't hang quite as many pieces. That's it. They probably still break all the opening principles.

With your opening knowledge and experience there's no reason you should fall much. Still -  everyone goes through swings up and down in ratings. Don't worry about rating or wins/losses. Concentrate on principled openings, capturing hanging pieces, and not hanging your own. The wins will take care of themself.

Give 'em hell Doker!!!

doing well this Saturday morning playing the five min games - to stir things up for me -- guess its working --well be back later this morning to play 10 min games again very sunny outside need to check the yard and pick up trash that blew into it over the last couple weeks -

Avatar of dokerbohm

Saturday afternoon went well for me  more wins than losses  still playing the five min games mind you --need to move up to and back to the ten min game  maybe after supper i will

Avatar of dokerbohm

sunday super bowl morning wife has gone  for walk with our son's dog  sun is shinning very brightly outside- thought it was good time to play -- guessed wrong - played very badly luck also not going my way --3 three losses in row against guys i should have beat ----i think-- well maybe luck is just running out on me -- one more game  then done for the morning  will try one 10 min game  more this morning --

Avatar of dokerbohm

guess some days you are  not supposed to play -- just lost game four  a ten min game --to a guy- well he wasn't very good -- but then again he did win -- so i fell into his opening trap and it was downhill from there -- just got to stop - playing this morning will try this afternoon -- then thats it if things don't turn a tide   going to play poker rest of morning on nlop where it doesn't cost anything to lose  and my pride doesn't get tramped on--- cause i can blame luck of the game if i get knocked out see later this afternoon -- oh yea - i must place 5 dollars on each team so i don't lose again today

Avatar of dokerbohm

i told myself not to play anymore today but i couldn't help myself and did anyways  so four losses in row again back in the basement again ---- there is no getting out of the 100 basement blues i guess - cause i sure am -- making it easy to stay there --  maybe superbowl will be better - can't lose there -- but if there is a way i an sure to find it - maybe monday morning will be better  not sure if iam going to play 5 min or 10 games tomorrow- but really doesn't matter iam in the basement --- maybe try some really odd random plays -  see you monday morning

Avatar of dokerbohm

monday morning lost as many as i won so  no difference in play  except i seem to play not as well in morning as the afternoon -- late night is my worst playing - i see -  will try a few more games this morning to see which way the day will go up or down -- super bowl last night was good to watch except half time show -- but then iam an old guy and they don't ask the bands i like anymore -- game was sure goof though - edge of my seat till the very end  and i had money on both teams so i couldn't lose ----for a change

see you this afternoon

Avatar of dokerbohm

the longer the game time wise i play the worst i do - shorter games seem to been even win/lose but anything over 5 mintues and well i lose every time to lessor players all the time -- really they aren't lessor players -- just lower scores they are better at this game than i am lately that's for sure --

as soon as i get to move 20 now its all over -- they out think me--- see the board better-- and use diagonals and pitch knight moves i don't see coming.  well here i go to the bottom again

one more game then i going to stop and play poker for a while maybe i do better there

Try to work on chess tactics and not to hang pieces. This is enough to get you above 900 rating.

All this time you spend typing long essays could be spent learning the basics I've seen literally 4-5 people give you a legit route to improvement you've taken non of them... no the game is not cruel to you you're just choosing not to improve. Watching Gotham's beginner's chess guide at least 4-5 times alone should conveniently get you to 500 bruv. Basic mate patterns all these things are free access on youtube. I went from 300-700 in three months after joining this site in 2020. Like I said you're adamantly choosing not to improve quit complaining

He's probably going through a losing streak and repeatedly trying to get this one win to reassure himself, without devoting any time to think about his moves or about improving in general.

Another useful advice to OP : once you finish playing a chess game of decent length (+10 min) spend some time going through your moves, especially the moves where the evaluation bar begins to largely favor your opponent, try to figure out why they were bad moves.

Yes OP really needs to start taking the advice he's been desperately asking for.

Avatar of dokerbohm

well i see your advice is probability good for a young person but old dogs are hard to retrain  and i have gone over last games  looking at they -- nothing seems to help knowing what what you did wrong is great - but unfortunately i don't see the bad move till i make it -- i see my posts seem to have a struck a nerve with someone here   i simply write these post down for my own amusement i am a very lonely guy  and very a unsuccessful type  at most things and  these help to make me reflect on what i do seeing in print  helps past the time --  going to try one more game this morning  cause i am at rock bottom now -- i will go slow -- nor that playing slow helps any for me -- i will try again--- then i will try a one min game just to see - if that make a difference -- see you later

Thursday morning all the gains i made last night -- gone  under 200 again -- people are just playing too aggressive for me -- no time for me  to set up strategy for defense--  will try a couple more this morning before i have to get to honey due list  on the fridge -- will try old method again see if that helps

Avatar of dokerbohm

well that went poorly even worse -- down to 188 -- need to stop playing when i lose two in row -- must make that a  mandate -- only play when on a wining streak -- since for me luck has a greater component of how i win and lose ----  two losses then stop --- remember that
