I've played it a few times and it usually goes well if white plays into it, because almost every response to the gambit puts white at a disadvantage, except 4. d4 or 4. d3. But if white does play either of those moves, you're in a really inconvenient position. White still controls the center and black's king is very vulnerable. In the 1400-1500 range I would expect your opponent to see that. It looks great at first but it's just not a good opening to play against someone who knows what they're doing.
