Hello, good people. I once thought only I had come across this sort of experience. I met a high 1600s guy from Israel on blitz and was attacking him till I lost by a fraction of a second; he called me "faget" and "monkey" before making his exit. Just like that! Just yesterday I said I was gunning for 2100 (I was 1600) on Main hall and a 1900s player challenges me on bullet and wins then starts taunting me all through. Usually though it's pleasant exchanges but you come to realise there is quite a number of really bitter folk roaming loose on the face of the planet, plus the internet has emboldened them from behind their anonymous PCs. Pros and cons!
rude members
Man, I should clean my specs. I thought it said nude members.
Ah well.....
Hahahahahahahahaha...rooperi, that's the spirit. More of that please.
I think rudeness is a cry for help. Try reaching out to this rude person to learn the genesis of his behavior. Respond to his misbehavior with kindness, compassion, love and understanding. And if that doesn't work, block his juvenile butt.
Should it be "block their juvenile butt"?
Their collective butt? The he complements the singular "this rude person." Anyway, girls are never, ever rude, dontcha know?
For written effect it does enhance your point at the cost of generating/re-affirming stereotypes .
Based on my experience on chess.com, girls haven't been rude to me so I'll have to take that into the real world based on limited experience

Everyone (me included; I understand that my sex is full of assholes) is ok with using "he" for a criminal or rude perso as a default (in this case though the sex was mentioned by the OP, but oh well, while I'm here...), which of course is unquestionably based on stereotype, yet when people discuss anything about the inexplicable disparity of females in chess other than "male players hate women, and never want them to play" (when clearly the opposite is true; we need more of them down there in tournaments, it makes us look better!), you're immoral. I wonder if people would talk about it even if the ratio was even more extreme, like 99:1!
And it's true too. Females are, generally, more gentle. It certainly seems that way anyway, and I wouldn't be surprised if I looked it up that men have a higher rate of criminal activity than women. Even the "mean girls" in high school have a very different standard of mean than the males.
I beat a guy in a 5 minute blitz game recently, offered him a rematch, and he promptly responded with "fvck you", which I found rather unnecessary, considering I hadn't said a word to him or done anything that might be considered untoward in the game.
Maybe it's just me but I find it somewhat annoying when the winning side offers a rematch. Shouldn't it be up to the losing side to ask for a rematch if they are feeling like it ?

Wow man, I feel the opposite. I think it's an excellent gesture to offer a rematch as a winner. For them to give an opportunity for their happiness to be taken away? I'm usually a wuss (this is of course if it's a long game; short game rematches are expected) and just want to celebrate my victory.
If anyone is annoying, it's the loser offering a rematch, like they're so eager to erase their loss, I dunno.
It's my understanding that using he when the gender is either unspecified or unimportant is based more on convention than stereotype. One could write he/she, but that's unwieldy to both type and read, I think, unless it's important to indicate that both genders as included. I really don't think girls are less rude; I think that's more an individual trait than a group thing.

What he said.

I rarely offer rematches whether winning or losing, and I don't particularly fancy giving a rematch either, as I like to take a few moments to relax after a Live game. However, I can understand a guy asking for a rematch after one loss, and might in some cases give it - e.g. if I played the first game as White and won then it looks polite to give a rematch - or apologize if I don't. If they keep asking for another game and yet another then it's annoying yes.
@batgirl: I sometimes use it for convenience as well, but honestly in my experience any time a, let's say a thief robbing a momentarily empty house (because since they usually escape, you don't really know anything about them) is described, or something similar, I hear "he" almost exclusively, but, in more peaceful descriptions, like describing a new boss or teacher coming whose sex is unknown, almost always I hear either he/she, or, most usually, they/their. I can't know obviously, but I suspect when a lot of people use "he" as a default, they are subconsciously referencing a stereotype. It's different for everybody, but that's what I notice. Hell, I too use "he" all the time for bad people often without realizing, cause after all that's usually the gender they turn out to be!
Btw I refer to trysts as a "she" although I don't really know.
Don't worry, I read a comment referring to me as "it"
my sex is full of assholes
I don't mean to be rude, but... what?!

Coupled with the title "rude members", I think I may have been misreading this thread
