Now SCID vs PC fails upon launch with one of two errors:

or

Running Win7 Ultimate with 64GB RAM on Intel i7.  Using "Scid vs PC-4.22.x64".  It ran hundreds of times successfully until recently.  I've made no changes to my system.

Can you help with this?

Thanks!

That doesn't mean your computer isn't downloading and upgrading. This is one big reason why I am using Ubuntu instead of Windows.

Another thing to be aware of (or is that beware of?), is that Windows 11 will be released this year. You will probably experience more errors and other programs might not run properly if the programmers for those programs are not currently updating their software.

When I regularly used Windows, I used Tarrasch and Arena 3.5.1.

Looks like it fails when trying to restore your saved layout. It may be possible that somehow your configuration file got changed somehow. Try this out:

1. Copy C:/Scid vs PC 4.22/bin/config/options.dat to your Desktop or Documents. This is to back up your earlier settings.

2. Delete C:/Scid vs PC 4.22/bin/config/options.dat.

3. Start Scid vs PC now. If it works then that means your options.dat file got changed somehow. Either it got corrupted or maybe the program crashed midway due to something and didn't write to it properly. After doing this, it will go back to the defaults.

4. If it doesn't work, then copy the options.dat file back to its original place. Then uninstall and reinstall Scid vs PC. This should mostly work.
