SCID vs PC

Multi-PV colors are hardcoded in tcl/tools/analysis.tcl
So you can either change the background color or you can edit scid.gui on Windows (make a backup of the file just in case). Search for "lineNumber" and you'll see "gray" there a few lines below. You can change "gray" to "indent" or "blue" (removing it also seem to work). Or check out source code of SCID and how it does it contra SCID vs. PC.

Dear bufferunderrun .
"indent" is exactly the option I want. Now I can see all the lines very well. Thank you very much again.
Kind regards

Steven: I notice from the sourceforce discussion that there haven't been many posts since 4.25 has been released. Is there likely to be a 4.26 version released at some point or is Scidvspc now considered 'mature' and pretty much there
I am still on 4.24 so if 4.25 will be the version for the forseeable future I'll upgrade. But if a 4.26 is coming out in a few months then I will wait
Thanks again for all your work on what is a great product

Haven't had big changes for a while now, but I still seem to be making point release every year or so. All code and contributions go straight to subversion, so to see latest changes, click on this page

, and then History.

it doesnt support cbh file extensions? ? !!
That doesn't bother me. cbh is a proprietary format, and Chessbase users can always convert their databases to pgn files if they want to do that.
it neither can open big pgn files also if i remember right !
If you like Chessbase so much, why are you trying to use Scid vs. PC? Do you understand what the term "proprietary" means? It means that Chessbase doesn't give its competitors the information that they would need to allow their software to work with the cbh database format. So if you don't like the fact that Scid vs. PC doesn't support the cbh format, I'd suggest that you take up that issue with the Chessbase company, not the Scid vs. PC developer.
Anyway, how many games are in a "big" pgn file? I just opened a 4.4 million game pgn file with Scid vs. PC without any problems. You can also convert a large PGN file to Scid format before opening it in Scid vs. PC.
hi, same problem with me. " max length for a game allowed by this database type has been reached"
i have just 15K games file in pgn format.

Hi, I have Scid Vs. Pc 4.25 installed on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. I downloaded the source code from SourceForge today and compiled and installed it. It looks like there's a problem with the Comment Editor window where it won't accept text. A workaround I've found is clicking on the down arrow buttom at the bottom of the It looks like it happens whether the window is docked or undocked.

Yeah, nasty gotcha i can't fix and have documented the workaround in 4.26 coming up soon.
I think this problem is most evident on wayland, but If you click in the top left hand corner of the comment editor text box, you can get focus/enter text.

Ok 4.26 is out. Hopefully there's no show stopping bugs. Only new feature are the Score bars and other new Engine board stuff really, but there's a full changelog in "Changes"

I think regular Scid by Benini Fulvio is much better.
You can download it here:
https://dev.azure.com/beninifulvio/beninifulvio/_build/results?buildId=1118&view=artifacts&pathAsName=false&type=publishedArtifactsYou have to download the artifacts and extract the file.
Scid.exe is in this folder \scid_windows_x64\bin

I've found ScId vs PC to generally be better.

What features do you find are better about Scid?

Scid handels huge pgn files (more than 1 GB) much quicker.
I think with Scid vs PC you can't even open such big pgn files.
I also prefer the look and feel in general of Scid over Scid vs PC.
It looks more modern and you can choose for dark mode.

Scid vs PC is a fork of Scid and can open the same size of files at a similar speed.
It's not a version issue. It's just needing to play with the options on background colour and font colour. I will try and have a look tonight / tomorrow
