Scoring is biased

I've noticed people often let the game time out by making moves when they know they are beat. I think time out losses should have a steeper penalty to encourage sportsmanship. If you make moves and allow your opponent to attempt a chsckmate, that is fair. However, to simply waist time should be discoruaged. Perhaps this is accomplished through more agrreasive time out losses, a 30 second move auto resign, or player ratings for sportsmanship.

I like the idea of sportsmanship player ratings....

if you lose off time. you still lose. thought long enough to find a clear win but too long to finish it. it sucks but it is what it is.

Chess isn't actually a sport, it's a game, consequently, sportsmanship doesn't apply, but gamesmanship does.  Life is biased, some people are beautiful and some people have to earn a living.

If a person keeps timing out when losing (when it's a matter of minutes, not a matter or seconds), their account might get restricted, so that's the penalty.
