Should Chess be An Olympic Event?

chess being globally acclaimed it would behoove the olympic committee and the world chess federation  to include the game of kings as an olympic event. the possibilities are awesome. a global olympic champion representing his country. it would also help to further promulgate the game of chess itself.  Also it would behoove us to have the tournament during the winter olympics since chess is an indoor game and generally thinking is facilitated in cooler weather.

No.  Chess is not an athletic event.

The Olympic Committee designated chess as a sport and in 1924 there was an effort to get chess into the Olympics but they could not do it because the big chess guys are professionals, end of story. That was what gave birth to the Chess olympiads.
