Should chess players be allowed to own beards

Playing OTB can be a bit distracting if your opponent has a beard. Kind of like cooking in a kitchen, you would require a beard net in order to cook. Either players should shave their beards or cover it up. It can be both distracting and hairy.

Site's user by-rules: If you do not have an official OTB rating (FIDE, USCF,USAF, etc) please do not reply or post on this thread.

Especially if they have a pet chipmunk in it.

  • The only difference between martrydom and suicide is a beard.

Please be respectful to anybeardy you may know who happens to own a beard.

Remember, chess is a board game, not a beard game.

Beards can be incredibly sexy!  It is excess nasal hair, or ear hair, that some older men get which drives me up the wall.  I mean, eewwww.

Senator-Blutarsky

Yes exactly! Those nose hairs can move during breathing.

JamieDelarosa

And cause faint whistling noises!!

Where is the line between beard and stylistic stubble?

EscherehcsE

Chia beards are encouraged. They're environmentally friendly - They raise the oxygen level in the room.

I think that control freaks should be banned from OTB play.

I also think that women players should be required to sport beards to refrain from distracting their opponents.

OP why did you copy scotrf's avatar?

What?  You've never been to the circus sideshow??

pawnstogo

What do you think?

pawnstogo

I think there are more cons than pros associated with wearing a beard.

blackrabbitto

One of the pros is that you don't have to shave every day; just trim it occasionally Smile
