Good day all. Used to play consistently at about 1700 throughout my 20s and 30s. Now my skills are not as sharp, and my ranking has slipped a bit into the low 400s where I am consistently getting crushed out of the opening. Thinking I should start at square 1 and bring my rank to 100ish to get back to basics. I don’t mind losing, so I am totally willing to bring my rank down, but wondering if the 100 level is a good place to get back into the game.

Has this happened to anyone? Has anyone done this? At my pace I will probably get there soon enough, but looking to accelerate the decline to a more comfortable level.

Blessings.

No. Deliberately losing to lower your rating is called sandbagging. It is considered to be cheating.

If you are out of practice, your rating might drop by a couple of hundred points but it would never fall that far.
