How do you play the Ruy Lopez as black?
I play a6, Nf6, b5, Bb7 in that order to get the Morphy variation.

I used the same opening I just look into other ones incase I can use them. I actually leaned that the more ppl you play the more diffrent some ppl are and all have diffrent openings. Once the first move is made you should be able to see the possibilities of that opening and switch as you are comfortable

Are you saying you play 1. ..a6?
My question was more meaning how is it you choose the Ruy Lopez as black, seeing as, as far as I know, white has to play Bb6, therefore making it whites choice to play the RL, not blacks.

Because when you decide to play e5 and Nc6 you basically accept the Ruy Lopez, in my interpretation that means you (choose to) play the black side of that opening. Maybe when you are very precise and detailed then ok it's just White that plays Ruy Lopez, but that is not my way to look at it. I guess you understood it either way, though. And yes I am definitely saying I play 1.. a6 (;

I see. That makes sense. Bb5 is probably the most common response to ..Nc6.
Besides that, after White played Bb5, it is Black who decides what way to go. In the mainline, for example, there's Marshall Gambit, Nb8 Breyer, Na5 Chigorin and many many more.

You are assuming that you have learned the endgame, tactical and positional (middlegame) techniques to the point where you are at an expert level. From my humble opinion, one solid opening is good enough until I get to the master level where my opponents are actually researching my opening moves before playing me.
Beyond the basic level of chess, I consider the opening as the least important part of the game compared to the ones I mentioned.
The best way to get mixed up is to mix it up. Try what has worked for me: Drop a coin on the floor near your opponent, and when he bends to retrive it, switch your queen for his f7 pawn. Upon his return, announce checkmate, get up, and high-five a spectator!

I tried that once. Thought I had him until he said 'Hey, look, there's Angelina Jolie!'.
By the time I turned back around, he had 3 queens and 6 rooks bearing down on my king.
Angelina doesn't deserve that. What about LivTyler?
Hey, I'm just a chess player. He could have said 'Look, there is a woman over there' and I would have looked.
I use the KID, the Pirc and the English Opening. My opponents give me plenty of variety with the particular lines they choose, especially when playing white.
I get plenty of opportunities to learn tactics and positional ideas as I encounter many different middle and endgames.
Just personal experience. I notice that you are a good blitz player, which may may give you a different experience compared with my 3 day online chess.
LivTyler!!! She is so clean I would drink her bath water!!! I suggest another title for this forum could be, "What opening line should I use with LivTyler"...OMG...I have to log off right now!

I Suggest the Alekhine
Yeah, Alekhine...he choked to death on a big piece of meat...interesting image as applied to Ms. Tyler.
Back on topic, as you develop "style," take some time for personal reflection and the "inner" game of chess. Are you a person who prefers an edgy, wide open game, or are you a person who can handle a cramped, positional struggle? I have known masters who won playing gambit lines like Tal and the Marshall and the Morra and then there is Petrosian and the Soviet School who's strategy favors positional play and grinding down your opponent in boring series of "safe" moves.
if you find an opening that suits your style of play go for it.
