I think thats all good, but for some reason I am leaning to believe purchasing the engines has value. does some one know precisely to make a suggestion??
should we buy Houdini engine, or Komodo?
Both them have free versions you can check out.
I have limited experience with either, so its not my cup of tea. I have like 8 fishies and a few others.

which one??
You can buy whatever you like.
As a general computational requirements, you need approx 2x time control for +50 elo.
So 1 min of Stockfish is approx equal to 4 min of H/K,

I have a Mac and wanted to buy a chess program. The only one available was Chess King and I believe it uses Houdini. It's reasonable good, I guess; however, when playing against the computer it takes a very long time to make its moves, even at low or intermediate levels. I only use it to play against a computer, so can't comment much about any other features.
I have heard of Komodo, but have no idea what it is or how good.
Engine, Engine, No. 9 speeding down Chicago Line.
If the train should jump the track, do you want your money back?
Yes or No?

HIARCS is available for the MAC

I like Komodo and Stockfish. If you want to save money go with Stockfish. But be careful, engines will stunt your - not kidding.. Before you use one, read a couple of books on strategy and and some quality books on your favorite openings.

Stockfish make all other CPU engines like noobs/amateurs. (only Neural network engines can compete Stockfish). In other word, other engines need massive amount of time/computing odds to compete against Stockfish.
In recent matches in TCEC, Stockfish beat Fritz 16 by 1 : 100 time odd. I guess SF can beat Hiarcs in 1:10 time odd, and chess master (the king ) in 1:500 time odd.
