Nope, because I have never met him, and I've never met him because he doesn't exist.

Prove God doesn't exist.

For a counterargument: prove that god exists.

God exists within the hearts of the people.  The ancient Greeks believed that as long as people had faith in something, it existed.  I believe God exists, therefore he does.  You cannot interpret faith with mere words.  It is not conscious thought, but subconscious feelings that cannot be molded into mere words.  Now prove that God doesn't exist.

Hey hey please stop the religious convo here, our forum post might get deleted, and that would be sad for me :( Please take it to private message and focus on the topic here: CHESS <3

Or one I heard recently."You mean Chess masters realy spend hours playing a single game? How is that possible?? Wouldn't they just know what to do?'

Must admit, I didn't know quite how to answer that one.

How about something like, there are so many possibilities in a chess game, just 200 in the first move, and only a few are actually good moves, so they take a long time trying to figure out which move is best.

Wow when you put in that perspective... :) Good way to put it

-Why can't the pawn take there

-I thought this piece was the king

-Why did you move the king and rook at the same time, you didn't tell me you could do that, that's not fair move it back

-I bet you'd be a master at checkers

LOL! Laughing

Keep 'em going guys!

... and so do Apollo, Hermes, etc.

So does the Loch Ness monster, too.

Now stop the 25-cents philosophy, all of you, read a few literature (for instance Kant) and stop trying to prove existence or non-existence of god, at least in a topic that has nothing to do with it.

isn't it about stuff non-chessers say ?

Yeah, but it's under "general chess discussion" ;) haha Cool I suppose yes it's a subcategory but I don't think they categorize that much in the forums

Hadn't seen that. Ah, the good old days of trolling beginners...

(this is a reference to another thread where someone told the OP "I'm surprised we haven't yet seen spiderman on a speedboat or something")

I've seen people come to a restaurant that has a chess club, go into the area where the club is, and say any or all of the following:

"You know you can not beat me bro!"

"Chess, isn't that just like checkers?"

"Are you any good at it?"

"What's your rank?"

"I heard you say castling to the other guy, what is that?  Moving the castle somehow?"

"...Moving the Castle somehow?" LOL

So, I was just posting this entire forum to Facebook... and Facebook decides to choose your thumbnail image... what in the world is that? I know kiwi from Youtube... :)

TheMurphey

When someone was asking me about chess, they once said, "Chess and checkers are basically the same thing, right?"

I've also had a friend that I EASILY beat in chess (he never plays me anymore because the outcome is the same every time) who goes around telling people that I cheat because "castling isn't legal."

I actually get annoyed when that happens. It's kinda a rude thing to suggest that one's blatantly cheating. Why would anyone cheat in chess. And if we know how to play chess, all the more reason to know the rules and not cheat. If you're a respectable player anyway.

chasm1995

My uncle accused me of cheating when I castled queenside, saying I could only do it kingside, and when doing en passent.

So god is a placebo effect. Is that it? Hmm?

You still need to prove that God doesn't exist, otherwise I'm claiming a win to this argument by your being unable to uphold your side of the debate.
