I like to study the chess cheerleaders, heehee.
Stuff Non-Chess Players Say

The problem with chess cheerleaders is that they take forever deciding between backflips and pyramids.
I'm listening to R4 now. I think it'll be a draw. Vishy came back from a losing position.

Lol.
And since it seems like everyone is caught up on the games... Carlsen (2) and Anand (2). Anand is giving Carlsen a run for his WCC title! Ahhhh!! Well, at least it makes for an exciting championship match.

How many games long will the match be? Has it been decided yet?

12 games maximum and the winner is the first player with 6.5 points or more. If the scores are even at 12, then 4 tie-breaker games are played. According to the FIDE website.

12 games I think. And it looks like MC has a psych disadvantage based on round 4.
Can't wait for round 5.

I spent a lot of time around chess today...!
There were two non-chess players playing. One of them stops and gets my attention to ask me about their position. Would this move or this move be better? But he was trying to make a move when his opponent's king was already in check. So I said that the position on the board is not even possible. heh...
Also... someone today thought that a chess move called "The Dark Knight Rises" would be cool... I agree... >__>

That same friend I was talking about a few days ago....
So me and a group of friends were playing a 5 minute game of bughouse(each player had 5 minutes) and I was playing him as black. So this kid decided to do turtle(surround the king with as many pieces as possible) but everytime he moves, it requires him 20 seconds. And I beat him on time

Hmmmm. Usually what happens at our chess club when someone runs out of time is that the game is still played out, due to curiosity and sometimes to learn. "Let's just play it out to see how it would've gone" for an interesting position.

I played at a chess tournament yesterday. Got fourth in the tournament (3 way tie for 2nd). I'm looking at the stats like...not impressed.
Well, at least my team also got fourth. LOL.

I'm going to be playing in a big tournament in February. It's open and it's actually my first tournament, but it's very high stakes for an open tournament. I'm a little nervous, but the point is to just have fun, so I just want to see how I do and hopefully get an official OTB rating. You can find out more about the tournament here:

I'm playing a tournament next week and another one during Thanksgiving
During Thanksgiving! Did you invite your family to the tournament too?

Cool! Looks fun. You must be pretty young to be playing in that tournament.
I hope you have a good time
