Wow. It's been 3 days since I last posted. Must have been the turkey. And I played NO chess over this holiday as I did last year. Needless to say, I was bored.

Welcome back! Hmmm... why no chess? I only have 1 game going and it's because he is from a sister Chess Club. And of course I'm happy to play. (Just not many games at one time!)

I meant no OTB games. I am playing one online match currently.

You guys might want to listen to this! Carlsen talks about his WCC games.

I have started using the Nimzo-Indian, do you guys use that against d4?

dragonair, I'm amazed Magnus can remember fine details from so many games. I remember some of my games but not down to the actual squares or the exact sequence of moves.

@Camberfoil-I sometimes would I sometimes do other experiments

Yeah, I'm so fascinated listening to him recall what he was experiencing both logically and emotionally. Incredible. I'm guessing he remembers the even finer details in the WCC series of games especially, considering the great amount of effort each game took (for Anand too).

On a separate note, I feel that Carlsen is more connected and appreciative of his fan base. He's all over social media. In the link I posted, you can tell that he cares about his "social media followers" aka fellow chess players because he takes the time to connect online. Facebook. Twitter. Smartphone app. Interviews. Etc. All very inspiring. So, there is somewhat of a reason why I'm a big fan of Carlsen. BTW, his 24th bday was November 30 (read this in another thread). Just passed!

Wow. When I was 24 I didn't even have OTB opponents so I didn't play at that time.

Any WCC hopefuls in your Chess Club at UCM??

He probably uses a katana. Or perhaps a kunai or sai...#fruitninja

JayBo308

Or, camber, maybe he just ditches the pitchfork and goes w/ a sledgehammer like Gallagher!! Squeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiish!

Sorry, Organic, I think a scimitar is Middle East, not Far East, but at least your pitchforks hold the juices in.

@camber . . . what is the Nimzo part of Nimzo-Indian?

I guess I'm not going to post that online tourney game. I lost on time. I was getting ready to post my move and...... oh, look. A new game.

Sick feeling. Sick, sick feeling.

Nice thread. Actually the first time I played chess was when I was 12 yrs old. There was a place in our locality where the people used to read newspapers. There a middle aged man used to bring some two to three chess boards and we used to start playing. We didn't even knew about castling back then (2000). I used to hear a lot of funny comments like "eat his horse. Or he'll kill your elephant." "He is laiding a trap for u" it was indeed very funny
