FQAs: "What's the difference between youth and open tournaments?"

First off, congrats on your admirable rating :) Second, lemme bump this question cause I bumped the last comment – my bad. hehe

akafett

dragon, you seem to get bumped more than anyone I know.

Melvyn-G

"Chess is boring"

Melvyn-G

Or  "Iv'e never played chess,it's too boring".

dragonair234

Lmao. I'll bet it's the ratio of my # of comments to # of comments on a page that makes the frequency of comment bumps greater. Ooooo super nerdy talk. (;

@findingnemo Welcome! Plus that's an awesome movie. "Wow look at that big butt!" - (Finding Nemo) 😜

@Melvyn lol yea "chess is boring everyone takes too long to make a move, it's so slow"

akafett

Hey check out my latest game. The ratings are what they were at the beginning of the tourney. So, do you think this guy played like a 1700?

dragonair234

After 13.Nxd5 a 1700 rated player should have DEFINITELY foreseen a king check. A knight on the 5th rank is very dangerous for your opponent, and you had TWO knights on that rank after 18.Nf5.

Mind blown!

Was that a little "poof" or are we talking mushroom cloud? I don't see any smoke, so..... Laughing

Anyway, apparently I wasn't playing a very strong player; his rating is below 1200 now. How he got to 1700, I don't know. And at first I thought I was doing well against a player much stronger than I am.

dragonair234

That's odd... makes me wonder why he was 1700 in the first place. Hmmmmm.

Wow guys it's already August. Where did summer go? I start school in just a few weeks, LOL.

A friend of mine was signing up for a chess.com account, and could choose his level of expertise. He chose Expert, and his default rating went to 1800 (it went down to 1342 after I kicked his ass). Perhaps it was a situation like that.

BillPhilip

"Chess? Not bad for time pass."

akafett

@ camber. That's possible I guess. But what a disappointment. I thought I was playing a stronger player and defeating him. Oh, well.

A default rating sounds like such a bad idea for an online chess site. The rating is quickly going to level out to your skill level anyway. imho!

Guys there's a restaurant in St. Louis, Missouri called Kingside Diner. It's chess themed, I'm serious.

If I ever visit St. Louis I'll be visiting the World Chess Hall of Fame, and this diner for sure... yum.

camberfoil

I heard that the burgers are called: "Kingside Sliders".

camberfoil

Dammit - I got bumpèd again!

akafett

If you stop posting, you won't get bumped.

Speaking of the Kingside restaurant, maybe thay have entrees made with skewers or, if you go on a Dutch date, you get a double check. Or.................the house special is Fried Liver!!
