Computers are ignorant. They know nothing! Books and Brains are what chess is all about.

Of course. The Sicilian is not at all respected at top level play, and none of the greats have ever used it.

Oh really? guess you aren't as top notch as I had thought since you don't have a shred of clue as to who Kasparov is. And yes Kasparov will go dooku you vodka style.

Pretty sure there was an element of sarcasm somewhere in here...

You mean Gary? No, I'm talking about TOP level players such as Borislav Ivanov.

What an idiot Gary Kasparov is one of the all time greats and still can be a top level player if he wanted to, Who do you think coached Magnus  Carlsen

Because of the "horizon effect" and the fact that engines still aren't that great at positional analysis, all good engines have an opening "book" associated with them that they follow as long as possible.  Chess.com's engine, at least the premium version, used to have an opening book.  It no longer does and as a result spits out ludicrous advice.

MISTERGQ

Its almost like the users of chess.com can't understand when someone says something so over the top stupid, for example "Of course. The Sicilian is not at all respected at top level play, and none of the greats have ever used it," that this person obviously didn't mean it and meant it as a joke.

These forums are like an internet anomoly. I'm just surprised this amount of gullibility still exists on the internet.

DrSpudnik

First NM troll on chess.com! Congrats to shabby!

Oh, there are pockets of it all over the place! Usually in specialized forums (like this one) where some contributors get so highly specialized that they wouldn´t even recognize sarcasm or irony, let alone in combination with a sense of humour, if you banged them down on e4 on the first move.

So it was relevant to the previous comment.

I had no idea what it was, so I googled it.

"As for the chess.com computer. Well as I have said before, it once gave me evaluations of two identical positions (that were literally part of a forced draw through three fold repetition) as being 0.4 different. I would trust somebody who I had just taught the rules of chess to, to evaluate the first move of a game better than chess.com's retarded computer."
