It's improved my mental, and strangely my physical health.

Now I expect that many people will come in claiming "oh yeah, I'm so much better at sliding puzzles, rubik cubes, etc.", but I'm an oddball with physical health.  Why am I exercising more?

Because I got tired of playing long chess games, and dying of mental exhaustion halfway through.  The only known remedys for mental exhaustion are... proper sleep, diet, and exercise.

Furthermore, going to a chess club gets me out of the house.  Which is a good thing.

Are all of these improvements, that you mentioned, take a short or long times?

You became Motivated and Addicted to Chess on some ways, isn't it?

You manage better your spare time? And organised oneself, as well as you wish?

I think playing chess makes me happier.  It helps me to ignore the ulgy things in the world.  And I am happy to see there are so many intelligent people online to play each other.  I got a lot of friends by playing chess with them.  Really nice.

But, playing online chess really damaged my eye vision.  Spending too many hours to stare on the pc screen is not very good.   I have to find some time to relax my eyes and do some exercises in order to live longer.  Smile

True! Playing Chess really affect the Vision and eyes!

I never used the eyes glasses, but I deeply reduced the # of my games, just to save my eyes from some damage!

And I know some natural care from healing eyes, that help me a lot!

It raises blood pressure, without a doubt. Think of hour anxious you get during certains parts of the game.

It raised Hight Blood Pressure for a Hypertonics, otherwise it drop tremendously...

Use a Acupressure Points for regulating the Bloodstream flows. It really take just a few seconds to see a results....

But it takes me a years to find the Info, Practice for oneself, and find a short ways to make help for others...

I tend to stay up far too late playing online, so this is bad for my health and work life. I've been trying to be more disciplined though, so maybe this will improve.

Chess improves your intellectual health. It enhances your thinking and analysing skills.

But if you are a person who really likes chess and doesn't do any other sports, I think it kind of bad for you as playing too much chess with out  rest or doing other things such as jogging or playing other physical sport will be bad for as playing too much chess lessesn your physical activity.

Playing chess is not bad but you have to make sure that you also should doing some physical activity.

I've heard that blindfold chess, especially multiple games, is damaging to the brain. It's a lot of strain, I guess. Not sure if this is scientifically true, but I read it somewhere and it makes sense.
