Significantly Weaker Computer-3 HARD Engine?
In past years, JSLigon, I've noticed for Computer3-HARD when you start winning too often, it begins to, 'get serious' and plays at an exceptional level and probably plays in between 1700-1800 level. I'm only about 1500-1550 and I usually get crushed and get lucky wins and rare back-to-back wins. It's strange that I was able to pummel to computer and win 6.5-2.5. It's the first time ever.
It's so sad, alexm2310. I mean, if I play someone of that strength 1550-1650, they definitely wouldn't make the 4...Qxd5 in the Scandinavian haha. I probably have learned to exploit that weakness the computer plays often. Chess.com should fix that. It kinda gives players of that level a bad name.
Now that I'm 1500 (yesterday I was 1420), it jumped up in rating, too. Approximately, 1650-1680 right now and I still get a positive record against it when I play.
For the rating you have alexm2310, of course you'd play it for fun! Your rating is pretty high to be able to do that. I usually play the Computer-2 MEDIUM difficulty for fun but end up underestimating it and I'll lose like one game against it. The actual computer, when you go to, 'Play' and scroll down to 'Computer' is actually difficult. I have a lot of problems against it at level 7-8.
I posted the FEN instead of a PGN and it only showed the checkmating move and not the whole game, so I deleted it.
I blundered that bishop because I got too cocky and stopped paying attention after being up so much material..
All i see is e4

Hi everyone,
It's strange how much chess.com has grown to how it is today, and I love the computer difficulties, but lately, I've noticed how much weaker the Computer-3 HARD difficulty isn't all that difficult. Is it programmed to be consistent or is it programmed to make the same mistakes in the various openings consistently?
In my experience, when I play the Sicilian as Black, namely, the Bowler Attack, I push my pawn to b5 after a6 and it happened 3 times that the computer played, Bb3??
In the Scandinavian, in one game (it must've been a glitch because it moved so fast, it was incredible) after it played 3...e5 I played 4. Nc3 and 4...Qxd5??
It might be that I'm getting better, but because of the computer, the score was 6.5-2.5.
Consequently, I jumped about 65 rating points.
Has anyone been receiving the same experiences recently?
