I have a board game similar to solo chess and I occasionally play on chess.com - what I like is it helps you find patterns and thinking ahead a move or two. Mostly it is a fun distraction.

what's the intention of this game its seems way too easy for you David. It even seems that you find yourself a game when you completely stoned and more  haha

A common problem for new players is calculating a tactic that doesn't work... and then either playing it anyway, or ginving up on it.

A big part of finding tactics that work is when one move order doesn't work, then calculate a different move order. I guess that this helps practice that.

But for the harder puzzles, you can develop a strategy to make it a lot easier. So once you do that it's not even about calculation anymore (at least, not much). You just do the thing (I won't mention it) and it all works out.

Why do you just suddenly post hmm on a 2 year old thread?

David, you need to do the lessons to learn the tactical patterns and then play puzzles to practice them.  Many tactical patterns have names like fork, skewer, pin, etc.  Once you understand those, finding good moves will become much easier.

Maybe as a beginner to learn how the pieces move.

As a non-beginner: Why play a game that has some chess components if you can play chess?
