Some direction appreaciated...

I am not an avid chess player - but did play the game as a youth... I do admire the game and the people who play it...

I am an avid football coach (i donate my time as a coach at HS level in canada - unlike the USA this is not a paid position but i am happy to volunteer my time to the communbities youth)...- In addition - I am an avid Madden Football Video game player - which brings me to the topic of this post...

I run a small Group of Madden Video game players (aprox 350 members) - where we play in 6 to 8 Leagues... After some research - i have decided the model used to RANK CHESS players would be a great way to RANK players within our community... The current systems used to RANK players in other Madden LGS have the SCORE DIFFERENTIAL as a dynamic in the rating - Using such systems leads to stronger player "running the score up on weaker players"  I DONT WANT THIS AS AN ELEMENT OF OUR RAKING SYSTEM.... At the same time - QUALITY of opponent is a consideratiuon that i would like to be part of the RANKING SYSTEM we use - these dynamics lead me to the world of CHESS and the ranking systems they use...

Of course there is no "score" in chess... Its a 2 player game (like our Madden LGs)... and from what i understand - the ELO's rating system (and others that are used in the chess world) - have a component that considers "quality of opponent" (afterall a win vs a "stronger" opponent should effect your rating more than a win vs a "weaker" opponent)...

What i am looking for is some sort of sytem where i can input the results of our games (we have 13-16 games per "Madden week" - and each "week" roughly advances 2-3 times a week IN THE REAL WORLD)... These results would formulate a RANKING for each of the players who have played...

Can anyone please give me some direction on how best to implement such a Ranking System?
