Some players ruin the sport of chess

Some players ruin the sport of chess. They play a couple of moves and if the right opening does not present itself in the beginning they decide to let the time run out. Meanwhile their opponent waits three days and checks the game many times before the clock finally runs out. There should be an automatic penalty against the offending player and an automatic bonus of 15 points to the offended. Instead the offender gains no penalty and the offended gets no bonus for the agony of waiting. I have had two such incidents occur in two days and these higher ranked players will not be on my game plan in the future.

You're talking about CC games. Solution = start another game/more games. You're not waiting three days. You're living your life.

Some players have to play a dozen or two games in order to get a steady playing opportunity. I don't know how this can be fun. Everyone is different, eh?

Sport of chess or game of chess

Which sounds better?

BTW, play Bullet chess then?

Op is suffering from selfishness problem.if he did not get what is expected from his opponent, he get annoyed toward his opponent. He should play otb to escape from his trouble.being selfish means he is a human being. there is nothing to ashamed for being selfish or jealous.instead you should develop it even more.

you need to play enough Online games,so that vacations, etc do not bother you.

I doubt 3 games is enough.

instead, if you get involved in a club- you can easily get a dozen games.

the next idea is to not rush things- you have three days!  why rush?  I play most of the time every other day,

if you play a dozen games every other day, you would not be worried about someone who times out.  if you can and want to obsessively play online games, you can play many more games.

I know people that easily handle 50 games at one time.

when you play that many games you don't make 50 moves (normally); instead you move 20 moves in the morning, 20 moves in the afternoon and finish off your games at night.

if you make this many moves-- and still find time to get the right calculations, you can improve really really rapidly.

anyways, I think your big problem Really is that you don't have enough games and then when one of them uses vacations, or time outs it bothers you.

but it shouldn't.  if someone ignores their game - they Lose which is punishment enough.

BTW, when you get higher rated this will almost Never happen to you. 1700 players + don't get so high, by timing out in the opening, instead they have a reportoire of openings that there are comfortable with.  Online gaming makes it even easier to have this reportoire because you can use master games as a guide of what high rated players play and what often happens during their games...

I'm sure Richard is a Pro so it shouldn't worry him that much.

thegreat_patzer

he is a provencher, not a pro....

and while he has definitely has promise, he's not entirely proficient yet.

AussieMatey

You might profess that but it's problematical and I'd probably proffer something profoundly different.

op is a chess freak. He enjoys the sadistic part of chess.if he fails to implement it he get sad which is pretty natural for a human being. and it all comes out in the form of anger in the thread.

That's complete crap. I've found myself playing 50+ 24hpm games many times either on this website or another and I don't do anything close to what you just described. I just make all my moves really quickly. I never calculate anything in any of my games.

I time out in the opening frequently and I'm rated 1700+ most of the time. Nearly all of my losses on this website are from timeouts. You don't know what you're talking about.

thegreat_patzer

ok oath.

it doesn't happen to me often at all.  (that people time out against me)

on the other hand, people who are just starting out, might be very likely to give up if they don't get into a game they like.

oc. my suggestion as to who to play 50 games was just a thought.  and would be the way I would do it.

if you sit down, and lightning style play all 50 games at once.  good for you.

I guess I am coming across as a know it all, but my point is that if you have alot of games, its not such a big deal if a few of them  are on vacation or time out.
