speed is important, I think it's called knowledge of the game and recognizing game situations quickly which requires a lot of focus. Learning to master a 4X4 cube requires focus because of the long algorithm's involved and can make a player better at chess.

Fatigue is a big killer for most chess players. Playing too many games in a short period of time against skilled players is too stressful, but problem solving in chess is so much fun! I think that chess can teach a player to think better when handling life situation.
