Square Off - Chess Set

I KNOW I KNOW! I want it

I had some issues with my computer, queen moving to wrong places etc. I was disappointed. After an update the problem was gone.

Maaaan! It's still pretty pricey! I mean I get the "magic" - but it's just so darn hard to justify. Let's face it, this is an expensive novelty. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great concept and would love to have one. Maybe they'll make enough improvements/efficiencies to the device where it won't be so cost prohibitive.

They are currently offering the best deal of the year, $100. off plus an additional 10 percent off, you can barely buy a high quality wood set for that. I was an early adopter and have seen the constant improvements in the software updates that have been amazing over the last year. I have had mine about 14 months. There is nothing on the market with regards to playing chess that will increase your enjoyment of the game of chess more!!!!! Man hat is off to the Square Off Team thank you

Are there any promotions at the moment? I think I'm in the position to pick one up now
They usually do promotions during any holiday. Which can save you around $50 to 100 USD. I am guessing Yom Kippur (Oct. 8th) or Halloween (Oct. 31st) would be the next one. Try JOSEPH10 and see if that promo code is still active too. Should save you 10%.

I would like to play longer time controls like 45+45 or 60 minutes, but even after 5 minutes I don't get any pairing. Even without limitation of the ELO and for both servers, square off and chess.com. Do other users here experience the same? How long do you have to wait for an according pairing?
Maybe it would be a good idea to make appointments for long time control games in a thread like this? Or we could start a seperated thread "Square Off - Pairings" if you think it would make sense...

You can play 45/45 min on chess.com when you are looking for match and cant find one. That is what i do. I also just create open challenges and wait for someone to join.

Thanks for your replies.
@jr87: Yes, that's what I do. In the Square Off app I am activating "random challenge" for 45+45 including both servers, chess.com and square off. Sometimes I also try "open challenge". But I wait for 5+ minutes and nobody joins. That's the point. But does it work for you? How long do you wait?
@yakuza_ronin Thanks for the advice. I will join these groups, I think it's a good idea to get in touch with "slow players" there.
Nonetheless, maybe I will try to establish a group like "Square off - Pairings" or even create a Whatsapp Group for this purpose...

Are there official alternate Dubrovnik pieces for the SquareOff system or did this reviewer just use his personal magnetic pieces?

Thanks for your replies.

I usually don't wait too long. I give SQ users 10-15 min while i get set up to play for a game, then if no one takes my open challenge, i go to chess.com. That only takes a few seconds depending the time control. 45|45 takes a little longer since chess.com users like fast chess. 15|10 or 30 / 60 minute games are quicker to find
