The collaboration with the Leela Chess Zero team - announced
previously - has come to fruition. The LCZero team has provided a
collection of billions of positions evaluated by Leela that we have
combined with billions of positions evaluated by Stockfish to train the
NNUE net that powers Stockfish 14.

Maybe humans should avoid computer chess? 🤔 It will only ruin our game no?

You can avoid internet, electricity and any technology since stone age.

It is your choice.

I'm not sure my terrible laptop can handle it but I'll try to download it

There are versions for old cpus, so you'll probably find one that works fine with your laptop

This is where A0's standing would be since 2019.

Great news! Now I’ll have a worthy opponent. I got bored beating the previous version of Stockfish so often I nicknamed him Friedfish.

When can we expect chess.com to be updated to stockfish 14?

You better ask Erik. My understanding is that they need to rewrite/ update their webpage to support WASM SIMD instruction that might cause them a few extra thousand $$$.

Has anyone here compared SF14 to the older (SF12)? I just now checked it out on an Android phone and it's much slower. The deep vs quick calculations (no phone jokes please)?

If that's the case, Chess.com already prefers the quickest results...mostly blitz/bullet oriented.

My Stockfish 14 on Galaxy S20.

(2.6 million nps on 8 cores)

SF 14 network size is twice bigger. Yes. it is a bit slower.

SF14 on Galaxy A21...just under 100k nps

Not sure why

SF12? ARMv8 on A20 >500k+

What's the trick? Or is processor difference that much?
