I understand your feeling of annoyance So yeah, it's helpful to know the feature described above.
Quick question: I see there is an option "My friends can challenge me no matter what". I assume that means that even friends outside the rating range specified can challenge you? That would be a desired feature to me, just wanted to confirm.
I believe so, you may get a warning message about the rating difference which should not impact sending a challenge.
Same here. I have a 500 rated from who plays at a level similar to mine, so I end up losing a lot of elo (something like +2 for a win, -6 for a draw, -14 for a loss)
Iโm sure Iโm not the only one who gets this, but every five minutes it seems Iโve got another challenge from a 500...
if you want a game, message us first, at least, and then weโll see if we can have an unrated game, maybe...
This and other reasons (like not wanting a friendly game to be more pressure on their side) is why I typically only play unrated games with chess.com friends. When I play a "friendly" game, I don't want to be taking their rating points (as well as a way of protecting my own rating).
For people much lower rated than me, I still usually give them a game or two for learning purposes though. Rating isn't as important as the person. Besides, I was so thankful when higher rated players accepted my games (mostly when I was much lower rated) and so me now being the higher rated player than most, I return the same favor to the people who want to play against me.
Although, just like you mentioned @DoYouLikeCurry I usually setup unrated games via messages before just accepting a game.
I understand the sentiment that one can try to help out lower rated players, but really it's a favor for them, and i don't think one is obligated to accept a lot of such requests. One can choose how to allocate one's time. I don't get that many random requests but i've taken to the practice of only accepting such requests only if the person and i have had enough interactions that I somewhat trust them, -- similar I guess to both @DoYouLikeCurry and @KeSetoKaiba.
Well, I don't see how that's relevant when talking about random challenges from beginners
I just stop checking my challenges. The only time I check my challenges is if my friends want to play me and then I see like 10 challenges. Please stop itโs starting to get out of hand
Iโm sure Iโm not the only one who gets this, but every five minutes it seems Iโve got another challenge from a 500. Occasionally I even accidentally click on the challenge and then have to abort (which I donโt like doing) or play a game for 0 -8 -16. Itโs super annoying and doesnโt endear you to us!

But we gain nothing from playing you, and you wonโt learn anything either. So please: just stop.
Rant over, sorry about that, Iโve been awake for only half an hour and already had three challenges ๐
i feel like this is a symptom of taking yourself too seriously, 1800 is not that high rated and i say this as a fellow 1800

Idk, i think it's valid to be bothered. If the difference in rating is over 1000 points it's generally not even an interesting game, so accepting the challenge is purely for the opponent's sake.
I haven't played rated rapid on this account in over two months but my other account is rated higher; I don't consider myself high rated but I still don't like random challenges with no context -- like seriously, at least send me a message and bother to be polite, because I don't trust random people on the internet.
Guys omg check out this forum post:
[Removed - DB]
the guy has a 1 day old account and has gone from 18% accuracy to 98% in just one day and is claiming heโs not a chess cheat. Itโs brilliant ๐๐.
I don't wanna be annoying but tbh, public accusations shouldn't be done....but yeah people are funny lol.......
LOL
I agree it's a comical situation when someone boasts about ability they clearly don't have....Someone told me that many cheaters claim to have learned chess from their dad ~ he went something like, "I didn't know Stockfish had that many children".
but still, i guess one should still stick to forum rules
