Stronger or Equal Strengths Opponents?

Do you guys prefer to pair up to similar strengths opponents or much stronger?

Why?

After crossing 1500, I excitedly took the opportunity to enter a couple 1500> 15/10 Rapid Swiss 5 Round Tournaments and got paired up with guys 200 or 300 ratings points above me. It was a challenging and  successful experience that I may continue with.

Congrats on passing 1500 chuck, and i prefer stronger opponents because i learn more from it.

Thank-you! It was time to get that monkey off my back.

I set my game filters for infinity on the over and -25 (closest setting to my rating) on the under to play stronger opponents. I lose more playing stronger opponents but improve faster. I review all my games. I only play 15/10 or Daily. Except for friends.

Basically, I'd prefer to play people as close to my level as possible. It's an inexact science, so I'll just say +/- 100.

I like to play opponents that are slightly stronger than me as well. It helps you learn more, I find.

On the other hand, playing against opponents much lower than you every once in a while is a good exercise, too.

Depends... if I'm feeling good stronger opponents, if not then I'll probably lose no matter what xD

Most of the time, I would wish to play higher rated opponents.

The issue is that there are not too many players above my rating. Even when I set my limit to -25 and positive infinity, I often get paired with slightly lower rated players.

Also, for every scenario in which Player A gets paired with a higher rated player B, player B would have to make do with playing against the lower rated player A.

I was thinking about those settings but with a Swiss tournament, I am guaranteed stronger opponents because I am often the lowest seed. Which is the main factor I may exclusively play tournaments.

I prefer stronger, so I might learn some new neat tactic.
